Life Story & Career

Tirath Singh Rawat was born on 9 April 1964 in a village called Sirau in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. His father’s name is Kamal Singh Rawat and mother’s name is Gaura Devi. Tirath Singh Rawat graduated from Garhwal University. After this, he did his MA in Sociology and also got a diploma in journalism.

Rawat’s career started during schooling. He started his first political career with the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (AVBP). He was also associated with the Kendra. At the age of 20, he became a pracharak of the Union Province from 1983 to 1988.

Tirath Singh has also been in jail for two months for the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement. Also played an Active role for the state of Uttarakhand. For the first time he contested and won the post of President of the students’ Union from Srinagar in 1992 on behalf of Garhwal University.

Thereafter, he also served as state Vice-Minister and State Executive Minister of AVBP and member of National Executive. Tirath was elected to the Legislative Council of Uttar Pradesh in 1997. Hence, He was made the chairman of the decision – making committee in the Legislative Council.

State Career

Tirath Singh belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In 2000, he was elected the first education minister of Uttrakhand.
In 2007, Bhartiya Janta Party was elected the state general secretary of Uttarakhand.
He was the chairman of the Divine Disaster Management Advisory Committee of Uttarakhand in 2013.
In 2012, Chowbata Khal was elected MLA from the Vidhan Sabha.
In 2013, BJP also became the state president of Uttarakhand.
On 10th March 2021 Tirath Singh Rawat became the 10th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
