Hopkins was born on 3 May 1997 in Kendall Park, New Jersey, United States. At the age of 11, he moved to Maryland with his entire family. Then he was studying in class 9. Since childhood, he was fond of football, so he used to choose sports college.
So he always participated in football at Bullis School from 2013 to 2016. There he did very well. Further football attended Rutgers University, but after some time there he was fired by the coach. So he attended Ohio State.

Haskins sat out his first year of college football in 2016 to preserve his redshirt. The following year, he served as J.T. Barrett’s backup. He had a 40% success rate while throwing for 565 yards and four scores. He was named the game’s most valuable player in the 2018 Big Ten Football Championship Game and the 2019 Rose Bowl after throwing for 499 yards and five touchdowns.

Haskins’s performance and effort levels had disappointed the coaching staff. Thus, they decided to sideline him for Week 5’s matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. After his second violation of COVID-19 regulations, the squad penalized him $40,000 and stripped him of his leadership.

Despite this, he started the following game against the Carolina Panthers, with Taylor Heinicke coming in for the last quarter. Head coach Ron Rivera said it was best for both parties if the team and Haskins split ways, and the next day, the team released Haskins.
